THE PAST

In 1988, Kevin Hymers and Peter Humphreys decided to start their own car sales business just outside Doncaster. And very successful they were, too, with a high proportion of returning customers.

The pair were always on the lookout for ways to expand their business. One day they decided that their experience as caravanners could be put to good use by selling the occassional pre-owned touring caravan , or motorcaravan.

Motorcaravans won the day and eventually replaced car sales. A few years ago, Danum was appointed official agent for CI Motorhomes - a role the firm takes seriously. It is the quality of the PDI (pre delivery inspection) and the genuine unbiased , advice that customers have most frequently commented on in our survey.

THE PRESENT Danum stocks the whole range of CI motorhomes (plus a few pre-owned vehicles of various makes). It has built up such a good knowledge of the CI marque and worked so closely with the local Fiat main dealer that the company has become renowned among Practical Motorhome readers for its high standard of after-sales service.

THE FUTURE

Kevin and Peter want to 'grow' the business, though whether that means taking on an additional franchise is not clear at this stage. The fact is that they are continually asked to source other makes of new motorhome for their ever-growing band of returning customers, so we think bigger premises will certainly be featuring in any future plans.

Growth will be modest though, as Kevin and Peter want to continue to provide a high level of personal service: their philosophy of getting to know one range, instead of stocking everything under the sun, has proved a hit with customers, as our survey shows
